4 Week Sermon Series: Winning the Mind War
Are you tired of trying to think up new ways to get out of bad habits and unhealthy thought patterns, but just keep falling back into your old ways of thinking? Are you trying to control what's happened in the past or what will happen in the future and realize it’s not working?
Thoughts are powerful. They change our perspective, impact our decisions, and influence our habits. What do we do when we become trapped by our thoughts?
In this 4-week series, called Winning the Mind War, we’ll discover how we can win this war and how it will dramatically change our lives when we do.
The Four sermons are:
Week 1 – August 8
Title Releasing Shackles
Subject Sinful Nature/Bondage
Scripture Romans 7:15-25
Focus I have the desire but not the power
Purpose Our people would become unhooked by the self-focus that has captured them and be empowered by the Holy Spirit. They would take the journey that God wants to take them through to move them from where they are to where He wants them to be. Don’t give up – look up.
Week 2 – August 15
Title Doing Battle
Subject Spiritual Battle
Scripture Ephesians 6:10-18
Focus The power to win the battle comes from a dynamic relationship with Jesus.
Purpose Our people would realize that the battlefield of the mind is only won through the power of Jesus and the armor he gives us when we pray and do life together
Week 3 – August 22
Title Calming Anxiety
Subject Anxiety
Scripture Philippians 4:6-9
Focus Peace comes from a mind that focuses on God.
Purpose Our people would pray in a manner that would invite God to enter their mind, and guide, heal, and control their thoughts.
Week 4 – August 29
Title Changing Your Mind
Subject God’s Will
Scripture Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 10:5
Focus When we let God renew our minds, we can know God's good, pleasing, and perfect will in all situations. And a changed mind means a changed life.
Purpose Our people would realize that what we feed our minds is what we become.
