Description / Abstract

Alive

He is not here.….He is risen!…...these words changed the course of history forever. Jesus is ALIVE! Death and the grave could not hold Him! Jesus’ resurrection provided a dawn of a new day. We are promised through His resurrection power new beginnings, New hope, New Peace and new Power. Jesus is inviting us into His resurrection life, we can be ALIVE with Jesus.

Mark 16:6 (NIV) 6 "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Week one: New Beginning - Easter – Dawn of a new day
He is risen – because of the resurrection we can now claim a dawn of a new day. Through the power of the resurrection we are no longer dead in our sin we are alive with Christ! through Adam death entered the world and through Christ we are now alive!
1 Corinthians 15:20-22 (NIV) 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Take away: Jesus is alive and in Him all will be made ALIVE…..have you said yes to Jesus!

Week two: New Hope

The greatest need in our world is HOPE. We yearn for hope and it can only be found in one source! Through the resurrection of Jesus we are born into a new hope! A hope that supersedes every circumstance! This is not simply optimism, it is the optimism of Grace given through the resurrection of Jesus!

1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Peter’s failure was forgiven and birthed into a new hope! Peter’s failure entombed him the risen Jesus freed him!

Take away: Failure forgiven frees us into a new hope…..what failure in your life need to be forgiven?

Week three: New Peace

The resurrection of Jesus produces peace as we no longer bound by the chains of performance. Every other standard we try to live up to breeds conflict and anxiety. Through Jesus we are alive and freed within to live with peace through the triumph of the cross.

Romans 5:1-3 (NIV) 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 6:10 (NIV) 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

Colossians 2:13-15 (NIV) 13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Take away: Receive peace by refusing to preform

Week four: New Power

We live in a world where power is gained by being selfish and posturing to get ahead, that fleeting. As we live in Christ’s resurrection Power we are enabled to live a life above sin that pleases God!

Romans 6:5-7 (NIV) 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-- 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Romans 8:10-11 (NIV) 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Ephesians 2:1-5 (NIV) 1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.

Take away: Resurrection life provides power over sin and death
